“Remember, the feeling you get from a good run is far better than the feeling you get from sitting around wishing you were running.” ~ Sarah Condor
The official club run starts at Decathlon, Newmarket Mall (cnr Vootrekker Road & Ring Road East, Alberton).
About the runners
We are effectively Cyclists with a RUNNING problem, aka The Coots (named after the Red Knobbed Coot that is resident in Germiston Lake). Some of of members have completed Ironman, Ironman 70.3, Comrades and a number of popular marathons, 1/2 marathons and other fun runs. Member’s experience differs from the newbies to seasoned runners, or ex-runners.
Sunday mornings are currently the only weekend morning that we have a small group of members running, unless there’s a specific cycle event or race. Runs are currently set at 10Km, but could vary depending on group numbers, training goals, or how we feel on the day.
Want to join us? Meet us at Decathlon, Newmarket Mall every Sunday morning at 06:30 (May – Aug) or 06:15 (Sep – Apr).

The Red-Knobbed Coot, or Crested Coot, (Fulica cristata), a resident of Germiston Lake, is a member of the rail and crake bird family, the Rallidae.
It is a resident breeder across much of Africa and in southernmost Spain on freshwater lakes and ponds. It builds a nest of dead reeds near the water’s edge or more commonly afloat, laying about 8 eggs (or more in good conditions). However, its behaviour towards its own young is so aggressive that only a few are likely to survive to adulthood.
